The Entrance of our Lord and Savior into Jerusalem

The Entrance of our Lord and Savior into Jerusalem

The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; they brought the colt, and put their garments on it, and He sat thereon.  Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.  And the crowds that went before Him and that followed Him shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!  Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!  Hosanna in the Highest!”  (Matt 21:6-9)

Pussy willows and palm fronds, placed in neat bouquets by Mat. Anna, were distributed to the parishioners and worshippers.  Following Divine Liturgy, we gathered in the church hall for coffee hour and, and also celebrated the 11th birthday of Maxim Kseniuk, son of our pastor Father Igor and Mat. Anna.  We sang Many Years to Maxim and then enjoyed a cake in his honor.   He will be celebrating his birthday during the week.  Pictures are in the Photo Gallery.

This week we shall hear:  “Behold, the Bridegroom comes in the middle of the night, and blessed is the servant He shall find vigilant; but unworthy is he whom He shall find neglectful.  Beware therefore, O my soul, lest you be weighed down by sleep, lest you be given over to death and  be closed out from the kingdom; but rise up crying out:  “Holy! Holy! Holy are You our God; though the intercessions of the Theotokos, have mercy on us.”
