SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

Feast of the Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ........

Dec 31, 2015
Feast of the Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ........

“I have come that people might have life, and have it abundantly.  I am the good shepherd.  The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.”  (John 10-11)    From a hymn of the Christmas service, we hear:  When the Creator beheld man, whom He had made with His hands, about to perish, He bowed the heavens and came down..... becoming incarnate of a Virgin divinely pure.

Having partaken the glory of His birth at Divine Liturgy on Christmas morning, all our parishioners and friends joined each other in joyous greeting in the church hall.  Christ is Born!   Glorify Him!   Smiles and hugs and the feeling of love permeated the hall.   Our prayers that He who was born of the Theotokos may bless all who were present and those who were unable to join us.  You are always in our thoughts and prayers.  Pictures of the event are in the Photo Gallery.

On Christmas mornings long ago, the church bells’ joyous sound

Awakened all the countryside for miles and miles around,

And families came from far and near, despite the wintry weather,

To fill the little country church and worship there together.

How wonderful it was to be among that congregation

As friends and neighbors joined their hearts

In humble adoration, to feel the warmth and unity

Of souls in true accord and hear the lovely story

Of the birth of Christ the Lord.
