His Eminence, Archbishop Michael Visits St. John's......

Monday, June 24 was a feast day commemorating the Nativity of St. John the Baptist and the name’s day of our church. The great significance of this day is pronounced by the fact that only three births are commemorated during the entire church year, the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Nativity of His mother, the most blessed Theotokos, and the Nativity of the Forerunner, John the Baptist. Archbishop Michael joined us on this important Feast Day at St. John’s and, during the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, His Eminence awarded our priest, Fr. Igor, with the Gold Pectoral Cross. The decision is made by the Synod to award the right to wear the Gold Pectoral Cross to priests who have received the permission of the Archbishop to wear it. His Eminence, Archbishop Michael praised Fr. Igor’s devotion and his sense of responsibility to our church and the diocese. The Gold Pectoral Cross is worn only by those priests given the special right to do so as a sign of distinction. May God always grant Fr. Igor and his family with many blessings and Many Years!

We were blessed to have join us at this Hierarchical Divine Liturgy the V. Rev. Joseph Lickwar, V. Rev. Gary Breton, Right Rev. Archimandrite Joseph (Hoffman), V. Rev. Wiaczeslaw Krawczuk, V. Rev. Samuel Kedala, Rev. Dn. Stephan Karlgut, Sub-deacon Matthew Ortez and our very own Acolytes Maxim Kseniuk and Christopher Kary. The Divine Liturgy, always a moving and spiritual experience, was enhanced by the presence of His Eminence, Archbishop Michael and the clergy. The beautiful voices that resonated from the choir with their responses and hymns added to the powerful beauty of the service. Truly a spiritual event. “I wash my hands in innocence, and go about Thy altar, O LORD , singing aloud a song of thanksgiving, and telling all Thy wondrous deeds. O LORD , I love the habitation of Thy house, and the place where Thy glory dwells. (Ps 26:6-8)
