The Long Hot Summer........

The Long Hot Summer........

The weather has really been good to us here at St. John’s.  About 2 weeks ago, our central air conditioning broke down and we were at the mercy of the windows and fans across the large church.  It was especially warm in the choir loft.  However, the temperature on Sunday mornings these past two weeks has been gently warm and, despite the lack of air conditioning, our attendance has been very good. Saturday evenings are not quite as accommodating.  It has been unfortunate, but we have had to cancel Saturday’s Vespers because the heat of the day is too intense in the closed church in the evenings.

We are working the problem, and, if the company is to be believed, the errant part will arrive in a couple of weeks, and it is with much hope that it will be the right solution and make the unit serviceable again. With this in mind, it is important that you check our calendar to see if the Vespers will be on Saturday.  Sunday Divine Liturgy will be as usual starting at 9:00 a.m.

The picture shows all our hearty and devout parishioners who attended today’s Divine Liturgy.  It is also nice to mention that no one complained, knowing that the problem is being worked as fast as can be.

To our wonderful and patient parishioners, may God grant them all many blessings, a pleasant summer and Many Years!

Sunday Divine Liturgy - The first of the pre-Lenten Sundays - Zacchaeus Sunday – This wonderful account of an actual event is told only in Luke. Zacchaeus means “the pure and innocent one.” His name was not evident in the choice he made for an occupation. He was the chief tax...
