Miscellaneous Notes from St. John's Parish Meeting.......

Miscellaneous Notes from our Annual Parish Meeting held on February 14.  Helen Baron will be collecting clothing to be donated to the New Jersey Food and Clothing Rescue based in Lodi.  Items collected will be delivered to Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral who in turn will add our items to theirs and deliver all to Phil Stafford.  He will sort and distribute the items to those in most need.    Phil and his staff were instrumental in helping several families recently when their homes were destroyed by fire in Passaic.  They were there to donate clothes and food to the displaced families.  If you have clothing that you no longer need, please contact Helen to determine the best way to donate them to her.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Kathy Cahayla has volunteered to be in charge of sending flowers to those who are ill.  Many thanks Kathy.

Again, a reminder to all of you who are desirous of purchasing a plot at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, cost of a plot to parishioners is $200.   Orthodox Christians who are not parishioners of St. John’s are also able to purchase plots.  The cost to non-parishioners is 50% of the current price stated by East Ridgelawn Cemetery which is $800 at this time.  For more information, please contact Nicholas Kovalycsik or Father Igor.

On Forgiveness Sunday, March 13, following St. John’s Divine Liturgy, parishioners will be invited to a Maslenitsa in our Church Hall.  Arranged by Matuska Anna and Father Igor, the menu will consist of delicious meat free delicacies.  Following the Maslenitsa, parishioners will return to the Church for Forgiveness Vespers.

As was done in previous Lenten periods, Pre-sanctified Liturgies each Wednesday evening will be celebrated with neighboring churches.  Our first combined Pre-sanctified liturgy will be on March 23 in Saddle Brook and on March 30 here at St. John’s.  All of the Pre-sanctified Liturgies will be listed in the weekly bulletins.
