News from St. John's for November..........

November 1 we will gain an hour to help us get ready for church.  As Fr. Igor states in the Enlightener this month, “The thought of changing time, especially in November, affords us the opportunity to realize that this is the month for the beginning of the Nativity Fast on November 15, the great American celebration of Thanksgiving on November 26, that we are now within a month’s range of the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that soon 2015 will be just a memory.”   If the memories you keep of 2015 don’t include church and visiting Jesus’ home, you are missing out of all that Jesus supplies in your life.  Remember He said:  “For where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I in the midst of them.”   Be sure to attend church and Jesus will remember your visit to His home.  Join us on Saturday, November 21 and attend Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Entrance of the Virgin Mary, Theotokos, into the Temple.  With all of us, He will be glad to see you there.

The date for the parish confessions during advent has not yet been set but confessions can be heard after any Vesper service or before Divine Liturgy by appointment.  The date will be placed in the calendar as soon as it is posted.

Helen Baron, our Food Pantry Coordinator, thanks everyone for their help in supplying food for the Thanksgiving baskets however, please continue your generosity.  The deadline for food for Thanksgiving is November 15 to allow time to assemble the baskets for distribution.  Please help us to help our neighbors in need.  Thanks again and Many Years!

Advent Nativity Fast Begins Today

Advent Begins: We believe in a God Who intervened in history: A God Who came to call not the righteous but sinners; a God Who came to seek and save the lost; a God Who came not to be served but to serve; a God Who came to give us abundant life; a God Who came as light that whoever...
