Several of our parishioners have roots in a small village in Slovakia called Udol. This website tells us a bit about that. Click here to reach the website. They are interested in knowing the names of the people in the pictures. Many of you will know them. Just click on the mail box at the bottom of the page and send them the names you know. Enjoy!

The Committee is currently planning a celebration of the 85th Anniversary of our church on May 16, 2010. This will coincide with the 20th Anniversary of Father Sophrony in the priesthood. Bishop-elect, Hieromonk Michael Dahulich, who will be consecrated as our Bishop the week before, has been invited and we are all eager to have him here.

The banquet will follow the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy to be held at 9:00 a.m. that morning. The banquet will start at 12:30 at the Tides Estate in North Haledon, New Jersey. Reservation form will be sent out during the month of February. We hope you will join us in celebrating St. John’s 85th Anniversary and Father Sophrony’s 20th anniversary in the priesthood. Make your plans and reserve your table soon.

Special thanks to those of our parishioners who have moved away or are “home-bound,” but still send me their donations. You all know the need is great, and you respond with good Christian charity.”
Video on St. Tikhon's Monastery........
To see a documentary about St. Tikhon’s Monastery, please click here. You can hear comments made by our friend Father Nehrebecki. This is only a clip of the 89 minute documentary but worth the time to hear, especially the beautiful Lord’s Prayer sung by the male chorus.
Christmas is a wonderful time to greet family and friends and following Divine Liturgy on the day of the Nativity of Jesus, that is what we did in the hall. Pictures of the event are on the Pictures Page or click here.

Let us fast with a fast pleasing to the Lord. This is the true fast: the casting off of evil, the bridling of the tongue, the cutting off of anger, the cessation of lusts, evil talking, lies and cursing. The stopping of these is the fast true and acceptable. (Monday Vespers of the First Week)
