April 3 CROSS Tomorrow

Saturday, April 3, 2021 - 01:00 AM
“For the word of the CROSS is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.  For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the cleverness of the clever I will thwart." (1 Cor 1:18-19)

April 10 Memorial Saturday..................

Saturday, April 10, 2021 - 01:00 AM
April 11, the fourth Sunday in Great Lent, we are reminded of St. John Climacus, who wrote of the tremendous effort required for entrance into God’s Kingdom. “Let your prayer be completely simple. For both the publican and the prodigal son were reconciled to God by a single Phrase.” – St. John Climacus

April 17 Tomorrow is dedicated to St. Mary of Egypt.....

Saturday, April 17, 2021 - 01:00 AM
April 18 - Saint Mary of Egypt -  A repentant harlot, Mary tells us, that no amount of sin and wickedness can keep a person from God if he truly repents. St. Mary recognized her sinfulness and sought to bring about an essential change in her life. She ran from her sinfulness and devoted the remainder of her life to placing God’s will above her own.

PALM SUNDAY

Sunday, April 25, 2021 - 01:00 AM
April 25 – Palm Sunday – The Entrance of Our Lord into Jerusalem - All His life, our Lord suffered for the salvation of men. He was born in poverty. Herod asked for His life. He never knew any economic security; others provided for Him out of their means. (Luke 8). He was without a home, for “foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head” (Luke 9). He who loved all was hated and persecuted by many. “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. When He was entering Jerusalem, He wept; “when He dew near and saw the city, He wept over it saying, “Would that even today you knew the things that make for peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a bank about you and surround you….because you did not know the time of your visitation.” (Luke 19:41). The destruction of of Jerusalem that Jesus foretells would occur in AD 70. This also describes the spiritual end of every person who lacks faith. But it is not too late because, as noted in the Sermon of St. John Chrysostom, “If any have tarried even until the eleventh hour, let him, also, be not alarmed at his tardiness; for the Lord, who is jealous of His honor, will accept the last even as the first; He giveth rest unto him who cometh at the eleventh hour, even as unto him who hath wrought from the first hour.”

Holy Unction - 6:00 PM

Tuesday, April 27, 2021 - 06:00 PM
Holy Unction -  The sacrament of the unction of the sick is the Church’s specific prayer for healing. If the faith of the believers is strong enough, and if it is the will of God, there is every reason to believe that the Lord can heal those who are diseased.

Holy Thursday - Vesperal Divine Liturgy - 9:30 AM

Thursday, April 29, 2021 - 09:30 AM
Vesperal Divine Liturgy - To understand the meaning of the Last Supper, we must see it as the very end of the great movement of Divine Love which began with the creation of the world and is now to be consummated in the death and resurrection of Christ.  ((Rev. Alexander Schmemann)

Matins with 12 Passion Gospels - 6:00 PM

Thursday, April 29, 2021 - 06:00 PM
Matins with 12 Passion Gospels - Christ suffered and died not for the sake of some vague "human mass," but for unique human persons - for you and me.  in this fact lies the hope and joy of each Christian.  (Very Rev. Paul Lazor)

Holy Friday - Vespers and Placing Shroud - 2:00 PM

Friday, April 30, 2021 - 02:00 PM
Vespers and Placing Shroud -  When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished"; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.   (John 19:30)

Lazarus Saturday - Great Vespers - 5:00 PM

By raising Lazarus from the dead before Thy Passion, Thou didst confirm the universal resurrection, O Christ God!  Like the children with the palms of  victory, we cry out to Thee, O Vanquisher of Death;  Hosanna in the hightest!  Blelssed is He that comes in the name of...
