Sunday Divine Liturgy - The second Sunday of Lent is the commemoration of St. Gregory Palamas. It was St. Gregory (de. 1359) who bore living witness that men can become divine through the grace of God in the Holy Spirit. St. Gregory clearly teaches that by cooperating with the God who makes all things possible, we can attain eternal life.

Unfortunately due to the inclement weather expected on Wednesday, March 7, the Pre-sanctified Liturgy scheduled at 6:30 p.m. has been cancelled. 

"Sweetest Jesus Christ, O Jesus, open to me the portals of repentance, O Jesus, You the Friend of man, and accept me, O Jesus my Saviour, as I fall down before You and fervently implore the forgiveness of my sins."

Memorial Saturday - Great Vespers - 6:00 p.m. - "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However for this reason I obtained mercy that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Tim 1:15-17)

Akathist to the Cross, Panikhida - 6:00 p.m. - Extol the Lord our God;  worship at His footstool, for it is holy!

Memorial Saturday - Great Vespers - 6:00 p.m. - Great Lent is not a season of morbidity and gloominess.  On the contrary, it is a time of joyfulness and purification.  We are called to "anoint our faces" and to "cleanse our bodies as we cleanse our souls." 

Divine Liturgy - 9:00 a.m. - St. John of the Ladder - The fourth Sunday of Lent is dedicated to St. John of the Ladder (Climacus), the author of the work, The Ladder of Divine Ascent.  This book contains thirty homilies on virtue.  Each homily deals with one virtue and they raise a man up as though by means of steps unto the height of Heaven. 

Pre-Sanctified Liturgy - 6:30 p.m.- Saddle Brook - The Prayer of St. Ephraim of Syria:  O Lord and Master of my life:  take from me the spirit of sloth, faint-heartedness, lust of power and idle talk.  But grant rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love to Thy servant.  Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own errors and not to judge my brother, for blessed art Thou unto ages of ages. Amen.

Akathist to the Theotokos, Molieben - 6:00 p.m. - The Akathist is really one great Hymn of Praise in honor of the Theotokos (or Christ, etc.).  The priest leads us in singing each verse and we answer him with the response:  "Hail, O Bride ever-virgin!"

Sunday Great Vespers - 6:00 p.m.- Today is the beginning of our salvation, the revelation of the eternal mystery! The Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin as Gabriel announces the coming of Grace. Together with him let us cry to the Theotokos: Rejoice, O Full of Grace, the Lord is with you. (Tropario)

Annunciation of the Theotokos - Divine Liturgy - 9:00 a.m.- St. Mary of Egypt - O Victorious leader of triumphant hosts!  We, your servants, delivered from evil, sing our grateful thanks to you, O Theotokos!  As you possess invincible might set us free from every calamity so that we may sing:  Rejoice, O unwedded Bride!  (Kontakion)

Pre-Sanctified Liturgy -  Clifton - 6:30 p.m.- Since the celebration of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom or St. Basil the Great is forbidden on lenten weekdays, the Liturgy of the Pre-sanctified Gifts, during which Holy Communion which was first consecrated at the preceeding Sunday's Liturgy is distributed to the faithful, is served. 

Lazarus Saturday - Divine Liturgy - 9:00 a.m. -  When Jesus Christ saw Mary weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply troubled in spirit and said, "Where have you laid him?"  They said to Him, "Lord, come and see."       Jesus wept. 

Great Vespers - 6:00 p.m. - Blessing of Willows and Palms - The blessed blooming willow branches, distributed to the faithful members of the Church, are to remind us about our resurrection and htat we must bloom only with good deeds and virtues, bringing forth fruits worthy of repentance.
