Happy Anniversary Peggy and Nick Kovalycsik.....

Today we had a three-fold reason to celebrate and we enjoyed the events together at a local restaurant, “The Seville” in Passaic. Our cherished choir director, Maryann Stagen organized a dinner in honor of the choir members to thank them for their devoutness and efforts for St. John’s. Also present at the dinner was long time parishioner and energetic senior member of the church, Elizabeth Hatsko who celebrated her birthday on October 30. Choir members sang Many Years to Liz with all the parishioners present joining in. Our key event was the Molieben served in church following Divine Liturgy for Peggy and Nicholas Kovalycsik who will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this week with their daughter and her family in North Carolina. Peggy and Nick are long time treasured parishioners here at St. John’s. The devotion and affection for St. John’s that Peggy and Nick consistently exhibit is an inspiration to all of us.

It is probably best to hear the wonderful tribute from Fr. Maryan in church when he said the following: “On this great and joyous celebration of your 50th year wedding anniversary, we extend our sincere, heartful congratulations and best wishes to you and your wife. Your many years of faithful service to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church has earned you the acknowledgment, respect, and love from our parishioners. Your record of leadership, sacrifice as church president, council member, choir member, and faithful parishioner, speaks more in quality than any words. May God Bless you for your example and may He give you many more years of faithful fruitful service not only to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church but for all who benefit from your wisdom, energy and generosity. Thank you for your service, leadership and devotion to Orthodoxy. May God grant you both many, many blessed years.” Dessert was a cake in their honor following a delightful dinner. May God grant Maryann Stagen, her wonderful choir members, Elizabeth Hatsko, and Peggy and Nicholas Kovalycsik Many Years!  Pictures are in the Photo Gallery.
