His Eminence, Archbishop Michael Visits St. John's........

St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church was honored to have His Eminence, Archbishop Michael here for the Divine Liturgy on Saturday, August 29 for the Holy Day of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. It was a beautiful service and an honor for us to have Archbishop Michael here on this special day in our church and also on the special day of his 70th birthday. Our deep gratitude for all his guidance is boundless and it is with love and gratefulness that we extend to His Eminence, Archbishop Michael a prayer that God will grant him Many Years as our Archbishop, a happy birthday and the years to follow filled with blessed memories. "Mnogaya Lyeta!" “Eis Polla eti, Despota!”

It was with Archbishop Michael’s support that Fr. Maryan Chaykivksy arrived here at St. John’s just one year ago and it was truly a difficult year for us as it was for everyone. Fr. Maryan has guided us through all the restrictions and limits with grace and wisdom. With Father and his family, Matushka Svetlana and daughter Irina and son Michael, we have been live-streaming services from the church starting when it was necessary and still continue to do so. Certain services are being live-streamed from the rectory every Tuesday and Friday mornings as well. We are deeply indebted to His Eminence, Archbishop Michael for bringing this wonderful priest and his amazing Matushka and children to our parish.

Fr. Maryan was ordained a priest 30 years ago and in tribute to this milestone, His Eminence, Archbiship Michael awarded him with a Paliza of the Most Holy Theotokos. He was presented with this award following the Divine Liturgy as a sign of honor. Congratulations and you are truly worthy. Axios! Axios! Axios! We are grateful to God that we here at St. John’s, are blessed to have you to guide us, and may He grant you and your beautiful family Many Years!            Pictures are in the Photo Gallery.
