January News from St. John's......

House Blessings for 2019 will take place: Sunday , Jan. 6 from 2:00 p.m.; Jan. 7 from 1:00 p.m.; and Jan 8 from 12:00 noon. The list of house blessings on those days were posted in the Enlightener distributed on December 23 in the weekly bulletin. To make a change, or ask for a specific time or to be included in the list to have your house blessed this year, please call the Rectory. When a home is blessed, the priest brings everything needed for the blessing, however it is common that many pious homes supply a bowl, candles and the family Theophany icon. The family should also provide the priest with a list of all family members, living and deceased, so their names can be commemorated during the service. All radios and televisions should be off. The priest will bless all rooms of the house except the bathrooms. Children and elder member of the house may carry a candle or a bowl with the Holy Water and “lead” the priest throughout the house.

The Nativity feast on Tuesday, December 25 was followed with a fete in the hall with a table full of delicious homemade desserts and a lovely program by the children. Thank you’s go to Matuska Anna and Sonja Finno for their patience and loving effort with the children. We thank them both and the children for their Christmas program. Pictures of the event are in the Photo Gallery.
