June News from St. John's......

Father’s message for June include the following.

“We will celebrate the great feast of Pentecost on June 19.  Pentecost is for us just as it was for the apostles – the reality of Jesus’ Resurrection.  We are to be transformed just as the disciples were, by the evidence that was witnessed after the Resurrection of Christ.

The promise of the Father, the gift of the Holy Spirit, is poured onto all the faithful.  By receiving the Holy Spirit, we have a closer understanding of Jesus’ messianic mission.  The Holy Spirit, when received by anyone, energizes them to go out to the world and proclaim the gospel.

I pray that, as we celebrate the time of Pentecost, we kneel down before God, invite Him to dwell in us, and let the energy of God revive the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.  Then, we can know that what we do is of the Holy Spirit because we have all been chrismated and sealed with the Holy Spirit.

Wishing you a wonderful and blessed Summer.

Father’s Day will be on Pentecost, June 19 this year.  Prayers for our fathers, both living and ‘asleep in the Lord’ will be offered.  Join us in remembering all our fathers.

“Lord Jesus Christ our God, the Creator of the universe and Lover of all mankind, hear our prayers for all our fathers and their children.  Let their love for one another grow with the life of their children.  If there is any strife, division or enmity between them, cause it to be healed.  Let them grow in love and in true Faith, and remove all fear, doubt and uncertainty from their lives.  Grant all our fathers and their children mercy, life, peace, health, salvation and pardon and remission of sins that they may always praise and glorify Thy Holy Name.  For to You we ascribe glory, together with Your Father and Your all-holy and life—giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages .  Amen.”

The Fellowship of Orthodox  Christians in America and the Passaic “O” Club thank you all for your generous donations toward the printing of church-themed coloring books in the Yupik language of Alaska.  The amount of $375 was received from the special collection on Palm Sunday.  Many Thanks and  Many Years!

Please keep in mind our Food Pantry.  Hunger and need are always present and it is important for us to keep in mind those less fortunate and help them.  A basket is in the vestibule of the church for your convenience.  Also, our Food Pantry coordinator is Helen Baron and she will be glad to shop for you if you donate funds.  May God bless you abundantly for your generosity.
