Nancy Filak..Memory Eternal......

If you had known Nancy you would know the loss all her family and friends feel at the news that Nancy fell asleep in the Lord Wednesday, April 20.  A wonderful parishioner of St. John's, there wasn't a job or position she would not take or assist. Nancy was our vice-president on the Board of Trustees, she was also vice-president of our local FOCA chapter and served as Governor of the New Jersey District twice. She was a member of the choir and the Women's Club and was an active committee member for many of our events. In the past few years unfortunately, Nancy was not well and was confined to living out the rest of her life in nursing facilities; and, last night, the Lord called her home and she peacefully passed. A treasured parishioner of our parish, a wonderful friend of so many FOCA members throughout the entire organization and a beautiful friend of mine. "Blessed are they whom Thou has chosen and taken, O Lord. Their memory is from generation to generation. Their souls shall dwell with the blessed." May her Memory be Eternal!

Nancy will lay at rest at J.C. Fila Lexington Memorial Home, 340 Lexington Avenue, Clifton, NJ (973) 546-6999.   Viewing will be on Tuesday, April 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  and Panikhida will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral will be on Wednesday, April 27 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist R.O. Church, 170 Lexington Avenue, Passaic, NJ 07055.

I was a student in Miss Filak's 3rd grade class in 1963 and I still have very fond memories of her. She was kind, very generous with her time and personal possessions and very warm and genuine...the consummate teacher! I was a 10 year old kid and I loved her. Of all the teachers I had in school, she was my favorite. I've even spoken of her to my wife and grandchildren. How ironic that we both lived in No. Arlington and I never knew it. I would have liked to have visited her. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family. I will always remember her and her kindness to me. I am a better person for having had her as a teacher and part of my young life. God Bless her. I know she is in God's loving care in heaven.

I worked with Nancy for many years and always admired her dedication and independent spirit. One could always count her to volunteer her services and time to those in need. I would like to make a monetary gift to your church in her memory. Please tell me how to go about doing that. Thank you.

Joined Pre-Sanctified Liturgy at our Parish - 6:30 p.m.

Come and hear the hauntingly beautiful Lenten “Hymn of the Entrance” heard only at the pre-sanctified Liturgy. “Now the powers of heaven do serve invisibly with us. Lo, the King of Glory enters. Lo, the mystical sacrifice is upborne, fulfilled.” The mystical passion of...
