News from St. John's.........

A note from our Pastor, Father Igor:  As we come closer in our spiritual journey to the Holy Week, I would like to encouraged you to re-discover for yourself the beauty and the spiritual power of the services that are served only once a year.  With wonderful hymns and heart-touching readings these services of the Holy Week are there to help us in our daily struggles, in our search for the Divine, to see our relations with God and our place in these relations, and to actually “come to ourselves” (as in the story  of the Prodigal “Son), re-discovering who we really are and where we are going.

Confessions can be heard after any Vesper or Akathist service, before the Liturgy of pre-sanctified gifts (beginning at 6:00 p.m.), before Divine Liturgy on Lazarus Saturday (beginning 8:30 a.m.), and before the Divine Liturgy, from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. (Please let Father know the day before).

At the last meeting of the Holy Synod, Bishop Michael was elevated to the rank of Archbishop.  Axios!  Axios!   Axios!   His Eminence, the Most Reverend Michael, Archbishop of  New York and the Diocese of New York and New Jersey.   Many Years!

A note from Helen Baron, our coordinator with St. Peter’s Haven.  Because of your generosity throughout the year, we have been able to support St. Peter’s Haven with over $1200.00 in monetary donations and over 750 lbs. of food!!!  Five hundred dollars of this money was donated from our parish budget directly to their Special Emergency Shelter Fund where they were able to double it thanks to a government grant.  St. Peter’s operates at least 3 shelters and they have been at full occupancy in 2014.  I cannot thank you all enough for your heartwarming and generous support of St. Peter’s!  Please continue to keep St. Peter’s volunteers and the people that they support in your prayers, and please continue to donate so cheerfully!  God bless you all!

Congratulations to Michael Bzik on the birth of his second grandchild, Lydia Sarah, on March 9.  Parents are Christopher and Jennifer Bzik of Pennsylvania.  Many Years!

Memory eternal to the servant of God, Edward Nagel, who fell asleep in the Lord on March 6.  Fred Beckmann, Fred, Linda and Dan and their families thank everyone for your love and support at Anna Mae’s passing.  Memory Eternal to the servant of God, Anna Mae.
