News from St. John's for April........

The following is an excerpt of Fr. Igor’s message for April 2018.

My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, “Come, let us behold our Life, lying in the tomb, that He may give life to those who lie in the graves. Come today, let us see Him of the lineage of Judah sleeping, prophetically crying out to Him: “Who shall raise You up, O King, Who falling back sleeps as a lion?” But of Your own will, rise up, Who willingly gave Yourself for us. O Lord, glory to you.” – Hymn of Great Friday Evening.

Throughout the calendar year, we speak and reflect upon Christ’s Passion on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection. These two events are fundamental in our teachings and faith as we profess Jesus Christ as Savior. Next week we are all invited through the hymns of Holy Week to participate by gazing upon Christ on the Cross, beholding His body in the tomb, and experiencing the light of His Resurrection. …….God is waiting for all of us to experience the light of His Resurrection.

I pray that we are able to refocus our commitments and make every effort to truly submerge ourselves in the beauty of the Holy Week services, so that at the midnight Paschal Matins, with sincere hearts, we can greet each other with joyous greeting “CHRIST IS RISEN!”, and with even greater joy reply “INDEED HE IS RISEN!” Fr. Igor

Many thanks from our Food Pantry Coordinator, Helen Baron, for all your many food donations and monetary gifts to help all our neighbors in need. “They asked Him When did we see You a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to You?” And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me….’ ” (Matthew 25:37-40) ".....for the poor you have with you always...." (John 12:8)
