This morning in church, we heard of the passing of our dear parishioner, Eva Stashitsky, on Friday February 26, 2021. Eva, and her husband, Michael, who fell asleep in the Lord many years ago, were devoted members of St. John’s. Their love of their faith and their church inspired them to use their talents there. They decorated the church for Christmas and other holy days and events, which involved cleaning the church thoroughly. I can remember seeing Eva on top of the tall ladder washing down the stained glass windows inside before placing a wreath at each window. Both Michael and Eva were on the board of trustees for many years. She and Michael cleaned the church with love and energy. Spring would bring all the candle stands outside where they both would polish and shine them until they sparkled. Michael’s love of flowers had the outside of the building budding with flowers every spring and summer. He spent hours weeding and trimming all the areas around the church. Eva was very talented. Her beautifully decorated egg sculptures were museum quality. When Eva was not working with her exquisite egg sculptures, she hand crafted beautiful cross stitch pictures of angels. God gives each of us talents to use, and it is easy for us to remember her and her talents that she lovingly used at her beloved St. John’s in Passaic. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. May her Memory be eternal. There are pictures in the Photo Gallery.
