Saying Good Bye to John Kary......................

It is with deep sorrow, and sympathy to his family and friends, that we announce the falling asleep in the Lord of our dear parishioner John Kary.   John L. Kary, 86, of Wallington, son of Andrew and Mary (nee Kostecky) Kary, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, December 15, 2022.

 

He was born and raised in Passaic and resided in Wallington since 1960. John was a veteran of the United States Army (1955-1957) and worked as a systems analyst and manager of computer program development for Shulton, Inc., in Clifton for over 20 years. After leaving there, he worked as a real estate agent, first for Weichert and then for Re/Max, until he retired.

 

John was a parishioner, past president, and board member of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church in Passaic. He held a private pilot's license. Some of his homemade wines won awards from the NJ Amateur Winemakers Association. He was a member of the Hackensack, Rutherford, Fort Lee, and Ridgewood Art Clubs. John graduated from Passaic High School in 1954 and Fairleigh Dickenson University cum laude in 1973 with a B.S. in Business Management with Concentration in Accounting. He was a member of the Phi Omega Epsilon Honor Society.

 

John is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Barbara (nee Pasterick), son Matthew, daughter-in-law Juliana, and grandchildren Daniel, Gregory, Christopher, and Xenia. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary, Emil, Andrew, Helen Krawiec, Irene Hudzik, and Anna (Stayrook) Valade. Panikhida will be on Dec. 19 at Kamienski Funeral Home of Wallington, 106 Locust Avenuje, Wallington at 7:00 PM and funeral services at St. John’s Orthodox Church, 170 Lexington Avenue, Passaic on December 20 at 10:00 AM.    May his Memory be Eternal!
