Help for the Poor.....

Helen Baron, coordinator for our food pantry assistance for St. Peter’s Haven in Clifton, thanks everyone who has contributed food, funds or items for those in need in our local area.  St. John’s has donated $875 ($250 from the church) this past year.  St. Peter’s Haven is  grateful for our assistance.

St. Peter’s has helped 10 families in 2015 between their three apartment units.  They provide transitional shelter and case management services to help guide them as they find more permanent housing and combat the issues that led them to homelessness. St. Peter’s  donors have helped in many ways, with donations of healthy food items, and through financial support.

In August, they distributed 348 backpacks full of school supplies to students from Kindergarten through the Collegiate level ensuring that no student would be without supplies.  In the fall, they distributed coats, hats, gloves and scarves to the needy.  On Thanksgiving, they were able to provide turkeys, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and all the other fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal for all 312 families who visit their food pantry.

At Christmas, holiday gifts were donated to the children and teens of all these needy families.

Whether you donated goods or supported them financially, St. Peter’s Haven wants everyone to know that all of this is important to help them seek to end hunger and homelessness in our community.  They extend a heartfelt thank you for all your support this past year.
