News from St. John's for October........

We are honored to inform our readers that our esteemed Archbishop, His Eminence Archbishop Michael, will be visiting our parish with Archpastoral visitation on October 15 and 16.  Great Vespers on Saturday and Divine Liturgy on Sunday will be served at their usual times.  It is always a pleasure to have His Eminence come to our parish, and we are all looking forward to his visit.

October 2 is Church Musician Sunday, also called Choir Appreciation Day.  Here at St. John’s, we will honor our choir at a luncheon on Sunday, October 30.  Prayers will be said for all our choir members, living and departed.  Those who have been active members of the choir for 25 years or more will receive a certificate of appreciation for their constant attention.   May God grant them all Many Years!

Fall is in the air, leaves are falling and colors of nature are vivid and bright; and   Thanksgiving is coming soon.  This is the time to think of the food baskets for our needy neighbors.  The following message comes from Helen Baron, our food pantry coordinator.  We need turkeys, stuffing, gravy, and cans of vegetables, fruits, soups, and cranberry sauce.  Or, if you prefer, you may give a monetary donation, and we will shop for you.   Please bring in your donations by Sunday, November 13, to give us enough time to put the baskets together and prepare them for distribution.  It is most important that we all be a part of this ministry, and show that we are true followers of Jesus Christ and follow His teachings.  “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”
